Nothing will stop a Life Med paramedic from rescuing a patient
Life Med Ambulance Service received a call on Thursday the 14th of April at 09:00 from Mamelodi East Extension 18. Life Med Ambulance Service responded and the two paramedics drove until the road stopped but that did not stop them and they decided to walk to the patient. After 2 kilometres one of them decided to stay put as the other paramedic kept on walking, he walked another 2 kilometres till he reached the patient.
He found the injured male patient in a hole with water as he fell from the waterfall where he was busy with a baptising ceremony. Unfortunately he missed a step and landed in a hole with serious injuries such as lacerations and head injuries. After the paramedic – Anthony succeed on arriving at the patient he was still at his full consciousness unfortunately with no feeling in his legs or arms.
Anthony phoned the Fire Department to help rescuing the patient from the accident scene to the ambulance due to the fact that it is far as well as the ambulance cannot reach the accident scene. After Anthony stabilised the patient he went off to look for help and waiting for the Fire Department he saw a SAPS Helicopter and luckily they saw him waving at them for help. The helicopter picked Anthony up to take them to the accident scene, the helicopter went off to fetch the Rescue Life of the Tshwane Department. The team effort of the Paramedics, SAPS Helicopter with the Rescue Life team as well as the Fire Department, they successfully took the patient from the accident scene to the Fire Departments’ bakkie. The bakkie took the patient to the ambulance to be treated and transported for further treatment.
After a rescue mission from 09:00 till 15:00 the afternoon he was taken to Meulmed Hospital.
We would like to thank each and every one for their dedication to rescue and treat the patient to the best of their ability.
